Precast Maintenance
Precast panels are cast with concrete and finished in such a way as to produce the desired texture and color. Since they are made with concrete, they are very durable and relatively maintenance free. As with any other building material, precast must still be cared for. It is important to choose the right products and materials to avoid damaging the finish or color.
Cleaning
Over time, it may become necessary to clean your precast panels. Most naturally occurring dust and dirt will come off with a mild detergent solution and a stiff nylon brush. If this fails, it may help to use a pressure washer. Also, stronger chemicals may be helpful if you are trying to remove concrete splatter, mildew, rust stains, or any other type of stain. Always test a chemical in a non-visible place to make sure no damage occurs to the precast or surrounding materials.
      · Always wet precast prior to using any chemical.
      · Do not use strong acid products, because they will damage the precast.
      · Do not let chemicals sit on the precast for long periods of time.
      · Always rinse off chemicals very thoroughly.
      · Test in non-conspicuous location. If damage occurs, STOP!

If your precast gets chipped or scratched, it is usually repairable. For small scratches, try cleaning the scratch to remove the whiteness. If extensive repair is necessary, please contact Gage Brothers for information.
Common Damage

Following is a list of potential precast damage along with a possible remedy:
    - Excessive window washing fluid turning panels white.
Control runoff of washing fluid and clean area with detergent or a vinegar
solution. Pre wet and rinse well.
   - Sprinkler heads constantly spraying panels resulting in rusty panels.
Adjust sprinkler heads and clean with above methods.
   - Damage around overhead door corners.
Use steel corner guards or pipe bollards in high traffic areas.
